Pants on Fire!!

You may not know this but some drivers have lucky underwear and they often form part of a routine. Being prepared the night before a race day is, for me, the most important part of getting to sleep !!!. Yet, last week I had a nightmare. I had turned up in Sweden without my fireproof underwear – and its hardly the thing you want to ask someone “excuse me, have you got spare underwear I can borrow?”

…..there is a saying, if your names not down you’re not getting in, we’ll, this is very similar. We all have to race in fire resistance underwear, and I’ve had to buy some new as I demonstrated its resistance to my nephew a few years ago !!

Having everything around me organised helps me focus, because when I am behind the wheel I don’t want any other distractions. I’m really good at multitasking which is good because sometimes in this game you need to be, and with a voice in my ear feeding me info and my eyes on the track i’ll just have 2 pedals to worry about, the steering wheel and the hand break, no need to be shifting gear once I fire her off the line (all my cars are female lol). I hopefully won’t need it again!

So, no more sleepless nights over my underwear, suit, gloves, balaclavas, boots, socks and underwear all packed. Now I can sleep easy……or now, i’ll turn my attention to the starting sequence.

Enjoy the ride!
