Whilst many people, and understandable, are wising good riddance to 2020 , it’s a year I will not forget for many good reasons .
I can still remember the phone call I had 11 months ago , ironically driving past a wind farm ( we have a lot of those in Cumbria) talking about Electric cars and renewal energy , little did any of us know what was about to come ….
My decision to get involved was made , everything was looking good – then came Covid , so I got myself a bike ( ok an e-bike ) and started seeing a lot more of the country side .
As soon as I could travel I was straight to Austria the surreal empty airports and the Covid tests , then the very long process of getting my medical!! I once laughed when my co driver had to get an ECG I though ; ‘I hope I don’t get that old ‘ … turns out I have . At my licence renewal , guess who gave the introduction on the video , Andrew Coley , who now my children think is great !!!! But thanks Andrew for your support and kind words !!
I’ve met some great people and had help on the way , especially Jayne who does my website, to the doctor who came in a Sunday to do my EGC and to Anglesey Circuit for fitting me in on very short notice.
Thanks to my competitors , who were Rallycross regulars for advice , Janis Baumanis was the first person to congratulate me which meant a lot. Going up against Ken Block was abit strange, but as everyone who knows me know, I don’t shy away easily, you only get one shot at life and this year , I’ve embraced it , so thankyou 2020 .
I wish everyone a healthy 2021 , we are all waiting for the Projekt E calendar to be confirmed and I’m sure it will be good…. fingers crossed we can all meet again sometime soon.
Stay safe and Happy New Year
